After years of being on the PC, RuneScape is finally expanding onto tablets, platforms and even smart TVs.
CEO of Jagex, the developer of RuneScape shared the news on the game’s website. Stating “in due course” was the only time frame mentioned.
His words: “I’m happy to report that we also have a dedicated Future Tech team working on bringing the game to your favorite tablets, platforms and even smart TVs in due course.”
RuneScape has been PC-only because a Java game engine needed isn’t on iPads and Android tablets have struggled with it.
But now: “We already have RuneScape running in a new and improved client architecture built on HTML5,” Gerhard revealed. That not only unlocks doors to other platforms, but also makes the game look better.
Long time players of the game have shown plenty of dislike to Gerhard’s statement talking about increasingly aggressive use of micro-transactions in RuneScape.
